Review on 💻 ASUS VivoBook F412DA 14" Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 1080p, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, Backlit Keyboard by Damon Atonyo

I bought this laptop for only $450. My Vaio ended up empty handed and I was looking for something in the $500 range that could possibly serve as my main PC as my desktop was also nearing the end of its lifespan. This computer far exceeded my expectations. Actually I use it as my main PC now and all my peripherals are connected through a USB hub. The hardest thing I usually encounter is playing Classic WoW (on medium/high settings), perhaps with a Twitch stream or YouTube video playing in the background, and so far it's handled very well. I won't rate for viruses, windows 10 etc as these are known factors when buying a computer so I won't blame Asus for that. The fingerprint reader does its job well, I really like the form factor. It's very thin and portable, but I'm not sure this computer can take too much abuse. I suspect part of the reason for the great price is that the laptop is probably a bit fragile. I also don't really like the position of the power button, so be careful if you have to use the delete key - it's one key further to the left than usual. But then again, this is not a huge inconvenience. From pressing the power button to being fully immersed in Classic Wow, video, or browsing the web, it takes less than 20 seconds. The SSD in this thing makes a HUGE difference. Even with 3-5 USB ports and using HDMI to connect to my monitor etc the temperature stays very low. My Vaio would get pretty hot towards the end of its life, even with a fan underneath, but this ASUS barely gets warm. I've managed to squeeze almost 10 years out of my Vaio so hopefully this one has the same. enduring strength. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. I would recommend it to anyone in the $500 range. Edit: I wanted to review (almost) a year since purchase just to say it works just as well as the day I bought it. I've treated him very well, kept him clean and he's in great shape. What has really impressed me so far is the graphics - for a mobile device, Radeon Vega graphics. I've never had a huge liking for Radeon/nVidia so when I bought this laptop I just wanted something that could do light gaming and other everyday tasks and I continued to use it as my main PC and it still works. . It costs 400-500, IMHO.
