I bought this for the Dell G7 7790 laptop. I hate the way the standard SD (Secure Digital) card sticks out which is either the SD card adapter can damage, or worse, an SD card slot. As with other Surface Book Gen 2 model purchases, this one is perfect for the SD card slot. This makes removal a little more difficult. Your fingernail can get caught in the groove on the top edge of the SD card adapter. The one I bought for the Surface Book Gen 2 protrudes just over 1mm. I used a 1TB SanDisk and had no problems with it. This is for long term storage only, zero to few usage types. So don't use it as a hard drive workstation. It's more for you SSD (Solid State Drive) or HD (Hard Disk Drive). That's what they're designed for. So don't expect breakneck speed. As with any SD card, SSD or HD device, backup, backup, backup can all fail.
