I have installed 2 of these valves and have been using them for 10 years. But I also have Grohe (not Hans Grohe). First, Grohe is maintenance free. But other bathrooms are in need of renovation. My city is known for the presence of iron in the water. On one I had to replace the reversing valve (broken) and the valve as it was dripping. On the second, I change the seal. I've worked with Summons and the good thing is they use the same valve everywhere. Once you get used to working with them, they are quite easy. Another benefit is that if you call their support team, they will often send you replacement parts. I would prefer it to be similar to Grohe and maintenance free. But Grohes cost a lot more. On the other hand they do have a valve, a replacement is available at any major store (or Revain) for a reasonable price. There are many online tutorials and their support is friendly. In fact I just left support and they are sending me a wash kit. So if you're savvy and willing to do your own maintenance, this is a really good valve. The replacement disc has probably been used a few dozen times in the last 10 years.
