I bought this ashtray to sit in the garden, smoke and think about life. It looks good and if I had visitors they would probably be surprised to know that this is an ashtray. It still looks beautiful after a full year of sun, rain and, remarkably, snow. A lot of water escapes even when the lid is closed. In any case, I think it's designed to work with water on the bottom, so that's not an impediment. It's just that if you have a nearly full ashtray out in the rain, you're better off emptying the water out of it before bringing it inside.
