We don't have stairs but we needed a very wide gate to get from the living room to the kitchen. We have a 47 inch arch that was difficult to find, a gate that was wide and short enough to easily walk through and hold our Yorkie. But the gate is so easy to use that you can quickly open it with one hand while carrying laundry baskets or whatever and get past the obstacle. I highly recommend! I've already sent back two gates: one because it wasn't wide enough and the other because it was too high, it was impossible to walk through and it was very difficult to open and close. This one is perfect for easily overcoming and opening gates. Likewise! It has a grill instead of those plastic holes! Wonderful because our little 2 month old Yorkie climbed to the top! 😱 She can't get up with bars. dog jail lol! You won't beat the price either. Brilliant! We love it! The only small drawback is that assembly took a little longer than with a normal baby gate. But very worthy! It also looks a lot better than the standard baby gate.
