We had a tricky top of stairs set up, and with much trial and error we finally got this gate to work. The biggest flaw with this product is that the included hardware for a wall mount is NOT safe/secure unless you happen to have a stud in the exact right spot. Additionally, the square banister adaptors did not work with our narrow (1 inch) metal banisters. A couple of points that were not clear with the product description.First, the kit to mount this gate without any drilling (using the rubber spacers) and when trying to mount to 2 posts, only has enough parts to secure a square post in 2 locations and a round post in 2 locations. I have used this baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. As you see in the photos, the left side is bolted into the drywall and the right side is attached to the banister. I am happy with how it functions, but it did require some alterations to make it work well.When you take it out of the box it says that you need to bolt it into a stud or else use drywall anchors. You'll need more than 4 hands to install this since there are at least 4 parts that need to go under the velcro tape. Some of these parts have sticky tape on them, but unfortunately the tape isn't actually sticky.Once it's installed it's very unstable and annoying to use. This gate is so diverse in where you can mount it, which makes it incredible. The way it works, allows you to mount it to flat walls, banisters (round or circular), with each mounted part not needing to be in a straight line. You can mount it so the gate is at an angle. Great design. Feels sturdy, diverse mounting options. Lock is a bit finicky but I have no doubt it will serve it's purposes and I don't see how a toddler will be able to open it.

The gate was very difficult to install by myself on the stairs, I ended up needing help, and the directions weren’t very clear. However, it works for the wall/banister mounting and is half the price or less than other similar gates.

In agreeing with past reviews of this gate, it definitely accomplishes the very tricky task of blocking the top of stairway when you have a bannister on one side and a solid wall on the other. No other gate that we found could accomplish this. Since bannisters vary so much, it's impossible to make a "one size gate fits all". Great, but I have stairs with round banisters on both sides and this only comes with 1 adaptor for round banisters. In the photo it shows square banister on one side and round on the other, if this is your then it works great, but if you have both sides round then no go. It would be nice if you could just buy the piece to add but they don't sell it. Weak sauce.

I purchased this gate because I have two round banisters and refuse to drop holes in them. It was a little more complicated to install. Opening and closing the gate is more challenging than I would like being that I have older children. Squeezing and lifting the gate at the same time while aligning the two holes is a bit much. If you have children who will need to use the gate often to get up and down the stairs, I would reconsider buying this.

Love the design to work with the banister and angled wall. The screws are sooo cheap, bent and stripped out. I used my own. I was fine with that but then I noticed the clip on the top was broken. The box was in shambles but they said it was reviewed and brand new. Please send a new gate with better intact clip. I’ll be satisfied if you do.

We had to look far and wide to find a workable option for our stairs. Most are for the bottom of the steps or don’t fit with my railings. This one was great. A couple of zip ties made this work for us and has been sooo great!

It’s a great top of stairs gate. But the installation was a little challenging and took a couple of hours because it require anchors which were not included.
