First of all it is for indoor use only as stated on the device itself. I have no idea why people decided to expose him to the elements. It's also made out of cheap plastic, so not suitable for attic installations. Let's evaluate the possibilities. Setup is easy, I did it in less than 20 seconds - map the MAC to a static IP address on the router, plug in the device, navigate to the predefined IP address, change the admin password for the hotspot , enter the SSID and password , and you're done. You don't need a separate controller or cloud service - it has a built-in web interface that is very user-friendly and responsive. I really wanted this AP but the range was terrible. Compared to the NetGear WAC104 and Asus RP-AC1900, this was the worst. My Wi-Fi camera on the porch only had 65% signal strength (at 2.4GHz) and was barely able to stream video at 3Mbps (it really couldn't - the video was choppy). Compared to the Asus RP-AC1900 it is 96%, both APs were of course placed in the same place. The router does not support any of the official PoE standards but 24V passive PoE. This access point worked excellently with it. If the range was anywhere near NetGear or Asus I would definitely keep this one, but I can't sacrifice my porch cam so this thing is back and my quest for a properly working hotspot continues. .
