Inexpensive, simple, compact and easy to use. I love that the status bar legend is printed on both sides and reversed at the bottom. So if your outlet is installed upside down, you can easily see what the status lights mean. One issue I had and why I gave it one star is that they don't come with instructions in the box. Instead, they included a note stating that you must go to their website to download the instructions, which means you must go online and search their website to find the instructions for this tester model. What really annoyed me is that the instructions don't mention how to use the GFIC test button and whether pressing on a non-GFCI protected circuit is dangerous to me, the tester, or the circuit. I had to go online to research this to get a warm idea of how it works. How to use the GFCI test button... Plug in the tester and press the test button. If the power goes out, the outlet is protected by the RCD or outlet and will work. Press the reset button on the outlet or switch to restore power. If power does not turn off, replace the GFCI or the outlet under test is not protected by the GFCI. How does the test button work and will it damage non-GFCI circuits? a short circuit (current flow) occurs between the hot and the ground conductor. When the GFCI is working correctly, it senses the difference in current flow between the neutral and hot conductors and breaks the circuit. The ground fault current is low enough not to damage or trip the circuit breaker in a non-GFCI protected circuit.
