In my opinion these hay troughs are wrongly made. If you attach it to the side of the cage, the hooks attach to the front, meaning you can't get into the top for filling. If the hooks were on the back of the fabric, it would open like an envelope. To fill it with hay instead, you have to unbuckle it, fill it up, and then reattach it. Another problem with clip placement is that they don't lay flat. It gets knocked out because the staples have to go through the hay and get caught on the metal. Not only was it poorly tailored, but the fabric was cheap and there were protruding drawstrings and sewing errors throughout. I do not recommend this hay bag.
