Some connection issues but the software makes up for it!

I ordered a portrait after the Cricut incident in 2021 (with the announcement that we would have to pay to download more than 20 drawings, which will be canceled next year) and I have no regrets! There are many comparisons to Cricut in this review (I had an Air Explore 2 in particular), so hopefully it will help people who are wondering whether to get a Cricut or a Sihouette. I know I've seen a lot of bad reviews for the software alone, but I had no problems with this one. I love that I can print directly from the software and the quality is good, crisp and beautiful. I also like that you can use a much larger print/cut area (about 7.5 x 10 inches) and that you don't have to sign in to use the software and everything is saved locally. You simply drag and drop your design from Explorer and it's there. Compared to Cricut software: Print Quality: Printing directly from the software results in terrible quality. It's blurry and crispy because the Cricut software prints the image at a lower resolution. To get something nice and crisp you need to do a workaround that involves printing to PDF and editing/printing in Photoshop (or a similar program). Print/Cut Area: With Cricut software you are limited to 6.75. Area "x 9.25" for your designs. You CAN create a full sheet, but again you need a workaround. File Management: It's a mess. You must be logged into your Cricut account to even use the software. If you want to use your own designs, you need to upload them to their cloud service. Nothing is stored locally. The car itself is great! It's nice and compact. I don't have to cut anything larger than the letter size so this is perfect. However, it is VERY noisy. If I could, I'd only deduct half a star for the noise and I couldn't get the Bluetooth to work (although the long USB cord is great for running around my desk). Shooting down a whole star is definitely not worth it! I would definitely recommend buying the silhouette over the Cricut even if they didn't have the entire space design fiasco.
