This device plugs directly into the docking station side of the Switch. I have the latest switch, the one with the extended battery, and it was compatible with this dock. I don't know if it will work with the new OLED. It simply connects to the docking station. I had a problem with charging colors. It always stays green when there are no controllers connected to it. I mean it's on all the time. So it can be a little distracting when you have a docking station in sight. These are loading indicators for 4 joycons and 2 professional controllers. I use a branded pro controller and it works great. I've only had it a week but I've had no low battery issues with my controllers and the switch says they're fully charged. Not suitable for travel so I would look for a separate charger. Generally he does what he says. The only thing I would like is for the green lights to go off when no controllers are connected to it.
