With all the drill bits and fasteners in my workshop, I always choose the wrong size. Through trial and error, I sometimes switch between a project and a set of tools half a dozen times. A quick test with other calipers shows that this set is accurate enough to use a drill or wrench to size. The composite construction eliminates the worry of surface rust if I leave it wet. It has a thumb slider instead of a thumbwheel and has no lock. But hey, I have fancy tools when I need to measure something that close. I had to drill out a rivet last night and got the right size bit for the first time. Win!
