good, but has a major security issue

I've been using electric kettles for about 30 years so the bar is set high. This one is good, there are some flaws, but I'm glad I bought it. Pros: * It's shorter and sturdier than a standard jug-shaped kettle, which is absolutely fantastic if, like us, you have a tiny sink and low faucet. If there's something in the sink, I can't put a bigger one under the faucet to fill it. It fits!* Quiet and fast!* Lid easily detaches for easy refilling* Water level is easy to see and it holds just the right amount* Style. This one looks at least a little dated and cute compared to those ugly modern pitchers. I still don't understand why there aren't more beautiful teapots! They live on your counter all the time, why aren't they prettier? (PS I tried a popular ceramic tile with pretty stickers but it didn't work, had to return it.) Cons: *KEYS: This thing cooks without a lid! I think this is a pretty big security issue and should definitely be fixed in future models. If it's full and the lid isn't closed, the boiling water will overflow.* If you see the water has just started to boil and you turn it over a second too soon, try to pour it, you'll get steam burn. It's the lid design. If you wait for it to turn off automatically, this won't happen. If you're impatient like me, just protect your hand. * I would like the transparent window showing the water level to be smaller. If you have been using an electric kettle for a long time, you know that you get hard water, which is impossible. clean. It doesn't affect the taste or anything else and the hidden spout strainer ensures it doesn't end up in your mug, but you see all those little white flakes floating around there every time you use it, it's unappetizing. Glad we bought it (mainly because of the size and style of our sink), although boiling water without a lid is a bit of a concern.

Pros
  • Blue power light; Soft touch handle and lid handle
Cons
  • Safety
