I ordered this to use with my Android phone to access the service menu on my LG TV. After trying two different phones I actually started the return process because no matter what I did it just wasn't emitting any IR light. I actually gave up and ordered another self-powered model when I decided to try again with a third phone. Lo and behold, it worked! The diode still doesn't seem to emit IR light, but it turned my TV on and off. At the time I was about 4 feet from the TV. I was able to access the service menu and it worked great. For anyone saying this doesn't work, I found that it's about 2mm shorter compared to the traditional 3.5mm jack. If I was to guess, it just didn't connect to the back of the connector like it did on the first two phones I tried. On the third phone, once connected, I saw a small "Headset" plug icon at the top indicating it was recognized as connected. The three phones I tried are all Android. Phone #1: Umidigi F1 Phone #2: Galaxy 8 Phone #3: LG Xpression Plus The third of the three phones is the cheapest and the one that ended up working. If you bought this IR plug and it doesn't work, try other devices.
