The main body of these is not stretchy and isn't intended to hold your stomach in, etc. They are made out of slip-like material. The lace on the bottom is really nice and helps keep them down and not creeping up. Also, the crotch is cotton lined. So you can choose to wear them as underwear. I think the sizing chart provided was pretty good; but, if you push the top end of the guide they could be snug.
