Review on 🧜 Luna Mermaid Swim Monofin by FINIS by Chris Long

Break straps 😣 - Watersports

I have to say if I had left a review last week it would have been 5 stars without a doubt. I've even recommended it to swimmers at my gym. I have had this fin for less than 60 days. I use it for cardio 8 hours a week and it has worked like a dream. To date I have noticed that both straps are tearing. This is my second moon. I sent the first one back in less than 30 days because the bracelet broke. When the replacement arrived I noticed tiny nicks in the silicone around the edges where it had been cut off after pouring. I considered returning immediately but decided I had overreacted. Knowing tears can happen, I took extra care with this one, following all directions and even keeping it in a travel pad. I think there is a 2/2 fill quality control with an identical issue which is disappointing from a company like Finis. Taking a third fin would be stupid so now I either have to find a way to fix the silicon or go with Mahina. In the photos you can see a tiny cut on arrival, a large crescent shaped tear on the first fin and a tear on the new fin. If anyone has an idea on how to fix it I'd love to hear it because it WAS a great fin while it worked but I wasn't even getting a dollar a day from it. An update from 05/08/18 found a way to fix the problem. something like aquarium silicone will do. Tried the silpoxy, held until I tried to swim in it, then the crack kept spreading. As a result, I had to cut a semicircle around the gap and reinforce the strap and pouch with silicone. Not pretty, but saved. I have the Mahina and it's a good fin, lots of work to get it moving, great training. But the moon is much more convenient.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
