Review on Dell SE2719H: Backlit 1080p Monitor with Tilt, Blue Light Filter, and Anti-Glare HD Display by William Greiner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality and great price

I needed an external monitor for my MacBook Pro to use primarily with Adobe Lightroom and couldn't choose one. I tested this Dell, the cheaper Specter, and the more expensive Philips 4K. Every 27 inches. Well, this monitor is a sentinel. For a non-4K 27-inch monitor, I'm very impressed. The text is not noticeably jagged. Brightness and contrast are high, colors are clear, crisp and stable. Instantly matches my MacBook's display color (or certainly close enough even to my picky eye) without me having to fiddle with the settings. I connect with a USB-C to HDMI cable, I made sure to get a cable that's rated for this purpose (easy to find at Revain). Setup couldn't be easier. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I'm very happy with this monitor. I don't have long-term information yet, I've only had it for a few days. For the price I would say it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to find a higher quality monitor. If you're looking for a gaming monitor, you can opt for a non-IPS model for a higher refresh rate (I haven't tried it on my PS4 yet though). If you primarily use photo/video editing, IPS is the way to go (according to my recent research) for richer, more even colors.

Pros
  • Terrible design... the screw came loose under the screen and fell forward, breaking the screen... poor design
Cons
  • Flickering: If the monitor's refresh rate is too low, the display may flicker.
