So I bought this ramp for my 12 year old Shih Tzu. He weighs around 29 pounds and suffers from Cushing's disease, which causes muscle weakness. So I figured this would be the answer to my prayers as I was about to have surgery that would prevent me from putting him on the couch and lowering him. But this ramp turned out to be an epic failure! My poor dog struggled to get up the ramp. Between the slope of the ramp and the carpet, which didn't offer enough traction, he kept sliding backwards. Finally, I put a double sided cotton bath mat on top to see if that would help. For a moment it happened, but even with his favorite treats he refused. I've had better luck with a couple of IKEA wooden crates, some wood glue, and an old runner that I cut up. Needless to say, this will be returned. Well, if you have a dog that can still move fairly quickly and doesn't have smooth foot pads, then this might work for you. But if you have a small to medium sized dog with smooth pads, this isn't going to work without major modifications.
