I've never used a fish finder so didn't want to invest a lot. After researching many inexpensive options, I decided to do this. I've used it several times and found that it does everything I need it to do. I can't imagine a hundreds of dollar sonar with a bunch of whistles and bells would be that effective. I like that it's light. I've used it for several hours on several trips and the original battery still shows as fully charged. It tells me very precisely how deep I am and how deep the fish are. I like to beep every time a fish passes under it to alert me. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. Every time I used it, we released more than we saved and hit our limit in about an hour with no issues. This is how fishing is really fun. I've found this works best from a boat or dock. Throwing it into the water only works for a short time, as the weight of the line pulls the swimmer and sensor back towards them after a few minutes. It is best to hang it from the side of a boat, raft, dock or other fixed floating platform.
