Based on a recent HVAC cleaning recommendation a few weeks ago I decided to try my first electrostatic filter (instead of the 3M MPR 1900 we had just recently been using) . Seems to be working well so far! Whilst the true performance of a good filter usually becomes apparent after around the first month and at this point how it compares to a replacement pleated filter is still debatable, it seems to hold a similar point in terms of tolerable dust levels up to that point . . My only downside right now is that the construction feels a bit "flaky" so I'm curious to see how well it holds up over time. We love the idea of just washing and reusing, and if we have a second one we can use one while the other gets cleaned. The subjective x-factor here would be how well it works against allergies, since electrostatic precipitators are strong against dust but weak against allergens. keep you updated!
