Review on πŸ‘— Melissa & Doug Deluxe Magnetic Dress Up Set: Endless Dress-Up Fun for Kids! by William Dean

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great concept, easy to miss

First of all, this toy says it's suitable for ages 3+ and it's true. There are REALLY SMALL PARTS in this set. See those little feet on the figures? There are small magnetic shoes for each of these small feet. My daughter is two years old and has tons of older toys and gets along just fine with them, but in this set I don't let her have most of the small magnetic pieces for fear of mistaking them for lust or even lust. eaten by one of our dogs. The magnets aren't as strong as I expected, but they're ok. Clothes cannot be layered, and when propping the doll on a pink stand, the clothes sometimes slip off the body a bit. However, the details are well formed, good quality, rich colors. My daughter calls them "bodies" and loves putting on and taking off clothes (and playing with clothes on the fridge and other metal surfaces). As others have said, this box (and most of the stuff I got from Melissa and Doug) needs a lid! It's a nice pink toy tray, but without a lid it's pretty much pointless. I am glad that the girls are of different nationalities and built like real little girls. The clothes are pretty fun - cute prints, styles that don't belong in any particular decade, more fun than sexy or grown up. Revain had 50% off Melissa & Doug toys before Christmas and I bought it on a whim. If I could make it again I don't think I would buy it. It doesn't look like it's well thought out (tiny bits that don't build up, the magnets aren't even as strong as M&D's wooden magnetic letters).

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Not bad
