I love this speaker, let's just get it out of the way. Form factor - size, weight, design aesthetics - everything is perfect. The volume and bass/treble controls feel solid, and contrary to some opinions, I like the lack of voice control, dual pairing, and all the other add-ons that mess up modern electronics. Bluetooth pairing is painless, and while I haven't tested the battery life, other reviews lead me to believe it's as advertised. It's almost perfect. Some reviews indicate the lack of mids. I get it, but here's what I find out: This speaker is absolutely stunning when it comes to bass and volume, with clean, beautiful sound delivered from a small portable speaker. However, the way music is recorded makes or breaks this speaker and I don't think it has anything to do with whether it's rock, metal, rap or pop. It doesn't matter if the music is bass heavy or the singer is tenor or baritone; It's all about producing and recording. I've played on all my favorite albums, from Motörhead and Black Sabbath to Erykah Badu and Sia, from The Beatles to The Mamas and The Papas, and I can definitely say some albums sound fantastic. , while others sound bassy with washed-out mids. And oddly I had to adjust the bass for Motörhead. Here's my conclusion: This speaker was specially developed for a specific sound. If I were an audio engineer I could explain it technically, but if I were a musician I could just say I like it or hate it depending on what kind of sound I want to get. But I'm neither one nor the other, I'm just a music consumer in love with modern digital audio technology. This speaker is absolutely spot on in almost every area, and all it needs is the ability to fiddle with the controls to deliver more mids when the recording or the listener calls for it.
