It's not that I don't like needles!. I like them, especially because they are interchangeable. I used a larger cable with some spade lugs and they work fine. It wasn't until I tried using a shorter cord last month that I found it worked without needles. Also, one of the shortest pairs of needle tips would not thread into a longer cable. I bought this set in December 2016 and now that it's February 2018 I'm sure Revain won't be replacing it having used some of the sets. I ordered the shortest needle tips and a new cord from another store because I want a complete set. However, be aware that this could be a potential problem, and if you're ordering them, try all the tips on both cables when they arrive.
