I don't particularly like heavy needles. I like warmth and I've always liked wood and bamboo. Luckily I tried them on my LYS (Natural Stitches, Pittsburgh) and loved it. So I buy them from project to project. In the end I decided to buy a set because I chose projects based on what I had and was suffering from start-up. It's not that I don't like needles!. I like them, especially because they are interchangeable. I used a larger cable with some spade lugs and they work fine. It wasn't until I tried using a shorter cord last month that I found it worked without needles. Also, one of the shortest pairs of needle tips would not thread into a longer cable. Like many other reviewers, I fell in love with these needles as soon as I started knitting with them. Carbon fiber is amazing. It's light, stiff and doesn't feel cold. Other reviewers use the word "warm" but that's misleading. They are not cold, at most room temperature, but also not warm in the truest sense of the word.
