Review on Asolo Mens TPS Chestnut Boot Outdoor Recreation by Noah Lewis

Comfortable boot but in stock Date

I had 3 pairs of these. The first lasted 6 years with occasional use before the sole came off at the Denver airport when I was finishing my ski trip. I have since bought 2 pairs. NOTE: ALL hiking shoes with a polyurethane midsole will fall off over time. Midsole material has a shelf life and will degrade with age whether you use it or not, much like the rubber in a car tire. I had a pair of German Hanwag hiking boots that I used occasionally, otherwise I kept them in an air conditioned closet, the soles were removed after about 12 years. This isn't actually a defect, it's simply the fact that the sole isn't a FOREVER sole, the polyurethane there oxidizes and crumbles, causing the sole to come loose. So if you have a custom foot size, we recommend buying a pair from an official Asolo retailer who stock "fresh" boots if you don't want to skimp on sticks anywhere. If you're buying from a non-dealer they may be "old" from new stock and ready to fall apart when you wear them a few months later. Pros: The boots are very comfortable, actually one of the best I have ever worn so I will continue to buy them and if the upper is ok if the sole falls off I will replace it with a sole. Reason for 4 stars: It's not the outsole that's coming off as that's common with PU soles, but because they don't have a manufacture date like car tires so you know how old they are. and how much life to expect from boots. It's important that you don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere and have to walk back 15 miles. I hope it helps
