I had several problems with this valve. First a little background. The reason why I wanted to change the valve. after recently leaving my 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic for a few months, I found that the crankcase was full of fuel! This would require (1) the original vacuum valve to leak and (2) the float valve to remain open. So after this error I decided I needed a valve with a "closed" position. I ordered this one. Furnished. I noticed that the exit ID is smaller than the original one (0.213" vs. 0.312"). Hm. Also, it points to the stern, not down. Hm. So I bought a new line and some brass fittings and hooked it up to my existing external fuel filter. As you can see in the attached image, the rubber line had to be rotated 180 degrees. I took it for a test run on low fuel, starting with the "Run" option selected. Oddly enough, the engine sometimes overshot. Hm. When I ran out of gas while "running" (at 65 mph), I switched to "accelerate". I brought the bike to a standstill and it never fired. Hm. I sat there for a minute and then tapped my glass fuel filter. I saw the gas begin to fill the filter. When it seemed like it would stop I let it run and it worked fine. For a while I had to repeat this process twice more on the way home. Well, after that, I can't trust this valve anymore. So I ordered a 1/4 NTP ball valve (see picture), made an adapter plate between the tank and ball valve, wired everything up and now it works great. Of course I don't have a "res" position, but I don't really care since I usually drive "res" anyway depending on the condition of the fuel on my odometer. I want to stress that this may very well be a good valve and it just doesn't work for my car.
