, I've had a jaw joint for as long as I can remember. Last night I did a frantic search for "TMJ" on Revain and found this. Of course I bought it immediately because. hey i shaved my teeth, 3 years as an adult braces, countless masseurs and chiropractors. For the past two years I've even injected botox into the muscles of the jaw and temples. First time I used this thing on my hardwood floors for 30 seconds. It kept slipping, but when I balanced on it, it hurt! I had what appeared to be bruises on the back of my head for at least 3 days. Obviously I did something wrong. I threw it in a corner thinking it was another waste of money. Two weeks later I picked it up again. This time I used it on my very comfortable (read: very SOFT) bed, which immediately solved the slipping problem. However, I could only lie on it for 30 seconds before it hurt. Again, I told myself I was doing something wrong, but this time there were fewer bruises! The next day I forced myself to use it for a minute or two. It hurt, but not as much as the first two days. ! I continued in the same vein, adding a few minutes each day. At the end of the 2 weeks, the simple act of resting my head on it caused my head, neck, shoulder and, HAPPY, jaw(!) muscles to relax instantly! I've spent thousands on braces, botox injections, night guards, you name it. It turns out I have a head-forward posture, which means I always look hunched no matter how straight my spine is, and it forces my neck and shoulder muscles to do a lot of work. This Occupivot didn't cure my TMJ disorder but made it more manageable. Since then I've been telling everyone I know who sits at their computer all day to get it. I'm buying another one here because I borrow mine so often I need one I can actually use! I can say with confidence that every person I lent it to bought one for themselves and at least two bought another one for other friends. Honestly I should be their distributor lol. Like I said, my TMJ hasn't healed (I'm still sharpening my teeth terribly), but I was able to last another 6 months before having any more botox injections! I'm attaching a picture because I was really confused if I was using it correctly at first. It was painful and embarrassing and I wanted to make sure I didn't hurt myself but I couldn't find any clear photos of people using it. Hope that helps! In the photo, I've been using it for about the third day. The neck muscles do not tense up. They go crazy trying to relax! The device itself is positioned in such a way that if I turned around and looked at it, my fingers would be curved like inverted rainbows. I'm sorry if that's not very clear, but it works best for me when those fingers flap just above the base of the skull. Once that relaxes, I slowly lift my chin so the "fingers" move just below my ponytail. Once I'm comfortable with it (and my muscles are relieved of the pain the first time I use it!) I just go straight to that spot. muscles. I've been trying to use my phone or watch TV for a while, but it really helps when you can focus your energy on relaxing! :) Now go ease your pain! <3!
