Strong, durable plastic in my opinion. Links don't break easily. I mean you really have to do a little work to separate them which is a plus for me as I know it won't fall apart out of nowhere. I can't understand why anyone would pay more than $60 for something like this when it's so good at stealing. The only downside for me is that I wish the red was more of a deep, cheery cherry red.
