Review on Finnex Stingray Aquarium Light 20 Inch by Traci Loge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent light with some minor (mostly preferred) flaws

This light is ideal for low to medium light plants. It makes my plants look amazing in photos, but with fish it depends on where they are in the tank. I think this world is best for a rimless aquarium with no aquarium lid. Maybe even screwed into the hood. Unfortunately I keep roosters and that is not an option as they can and will pop out. My issues with this: With a glass dome, the hinge/rod in the center blocks the light. I need to move it either forward (light stays in front) or backward (some light comes forward). I can handle it, but at first I lost some foreground plants due to insufficient lighting. The plastic clips/screws securing the rim slide around the rim and fall off a few times. For tanks with rims, I would wish for something more stable. Maybe make it adjustable and add the ability to fix it. Now why I give it such a high rating: Plants it works well for, it REALLY works well. My wisteria is growing like crazy - so much so that I've lost several plants to blocking the light. No problem, I already understood everything. My anubias and swords are doing great, and I've brought plants that died in the old dim light to life, and sprouts are growing now too. Overall great light and it pays off with all the plants I get. There is just enough growth, I can change my landscaping every few weeks or months and still have enough plants to prune/create. present to prevent mixing of hormones.)
