I bought the previous version a while back but it didn't retain the brightness setting when unplugged. It doesn't have that problem - the brightness setting is saved and stays the same when you plug it back in. The only small note concerns the switch on the right that is used to navigate through the settings menu. It can be difficult to use if you have big fingers (like me). It also doubles as a power off button if you want to turn off the monitor while it stays plugged in. I would have preferred if it had up/down arrows and a separate power button. But none of them are show shows. It's mostly about screen quality and overall form factor, and it performs well on both.
