I had to remove and replace the existing outlet so I could connect another outlet in that location. Unfortunately the drywallers were a little sloppy when cutting out the original box when building the house and the cut out was too big and wrong to fit in one of those blue wing boxes you find in large boxes. I needed something to attach to a stud on the outside of a wall and this product fit the bill and solved my problem. A few things I found installing one of these: 1. As another reviewer pointed out, screw the box in and out a few times before attempting to install it. This will make it much easier to screw the box into the stud.2. The side of the box opposite the bolts/screws may stick out a little and protrude above the surface of the drywall so your outlet or switch and panel will not sit snugly against the wall. My suggestion is to screw the box to the stud so that side is slightly below the drywall surface so that when you unscrew the other side it will be flush with the drywall surface. As other reviewers point out, inserting the wires into the box is a bit of a hassle. This is partly because the wire holes in this box are on the top and bottom instead of the back. If possible, a little more wire makes the job a little easier. You'll need to knock out a small "plug" with a flat head screwdriver for each spot you will run the wires through.4. Due to the angle of inclination of the screws, it is difficult to screw them fully into the stud. My suggestion is to drive each one a short distance, then remove one and drill a pilot hole in its place. At this point, fully seat the screw and repeat this process for the other screw.
