Great Adapter - Computers & Accessories

I urgently needed to add a second PCIe type NVME drive to my system and could only find a PCIe card as the only other option. I'm out of slots and don't like swapping out PCI cards. This device works great as long as you don't need the pcie-nvme drive to be recognized by the system as installed internally (essentially a device permanently attached to the motherboard). It's very easy to use. Basically it's just a port on a connector. The screw is the only annoying part, but that's because of the drive type, not the adapter. If you have a small Phillips screwdriver, this isn't even a problem. I recommend having a good magnet to make sure you don't lose the screw. The LED is ok indicating it has power and blinking when the disc is being read/written. I was initially concerned about static as it didn't have a case, but I actually tried getting esd and it still works great. It was actually nice not having to remove or replace the case. The adapter itself does not suffer from this problem, but the nvme disk can get very hot. It would be nice to have a red light warning on this, but there can't be a thermometer in the adapter that knows where the hot spots are for each make and model of drive. There's enough clearance for double-sided drives, but if your heatsink wraps even just around the bottom of a single-sided drive, it may need to be removed before the drive will fit in the adapter. This doesn't cause any functional issues as USB can't keep up with NVME speeds, but it can be annoying to have to remove and then reinstall the heatsink when moving drives around. This isn't really an issue, and keeping the drive the designated distance from the adapter keeps it from bending, so it's probably for the better. This is just a minor inconvenience I had with my heatsink drive when I had to use it in this adapter. Overall I really like this device and it works great. I highly recommend it
