Near Perfect NVME Cloning Adapter

I bought this to clone my smaller NVME drive to a larger one (Samsung 970 EVO) in a single slot laptop. Unfortunately, as many others have said, you cannot use the Samsung data transfer tool because the device does not show up as Samsung via the USB adapter. So I used another partition manager. It worked perfectly except for this little thing.

True NVME 2280 Compatibility

finally a truly compatible NVME 2280 adapter I bought about seven adapters that claimed compatibility but they never worked. This one worked when I first tried it. It took me a few weeks to clone and swap the hard drive due to an adapter problem. Thanks to this adapter I was finally able to do it. I tried this adapter on four different NVME 2280 hard drives and it worked with every one of them. It's worth spending a few bucks more for cheap adapters that never work.

Works well for HDD enclosures

I mainly use it for cloning NVMe SSD. I'm running Acronis in a virtual machine on my clone server and it's very convenient to be able to plug and unplug NVMe SSDs without rebooting. I've tested various scenarios with this adapter and the results are as expected: an obvious drop in performance. that comes with running NVMe over USB. But considering it's USB 3.0, it still gives me very good performance for cloning and even running Windows. The blue LED is helpful. Solid when online and flashingโ€ฆ

Works as expected

I bought this because I wanted to clone the M.2 drive (which is the boot/system partition) on my PC to a new M.2 drive in order to to get more space. I have Samsung M.2 drives and while Samsung has cloning software, their software generally doesn't recognize Samsung drives connected via USB (which I expected after doing some research). So I just used other cloning software and it worked like a champ. Plugged my new M.2 drive into this adapter and plugged it in, ran the cloning softwareโ€ฆ

Works well: Computer and accessories

I recommend reading Roger Theriault's review on this product: the first review of this adapter sorted by "best reviews". Remember that Samsung offers a number of free programs that make their devices easier to use. And don't confuse "Samsung Data Migration" with "Samsung Magician" like I did. To do this, you need a migration tool. Even after reading Roger's review a few times, I'm having trouble getting the new laptop to recognize the adapter and card. I honestly can't say what made it workโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Available in white only

I upgraded a nvme SSD Single Slot M.2 from an old Kingston M.2 to a new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB. (July 2020) I saw comments everywhere about Samsung's migration tool not recognizing these USB adapters, so I was ready to do a bit of Macrium Reflect. I had Macrium Reflect Free ready to go, but before using it I updated the ASUG ROG motherboard firmware, installed the latest Samsung tools (wizard and data migration software and Win10 device drivers), made a USB backup and mounted the drive withโ€ฆ

Beware of overheating an uninitialized NVME drive

The adapter was easy to use and worked well. However, I first used an adapter to connect a raw Crucial 1TB NVMe drive to a USB port, as I figured it was the first step in cloning hard drives (internal drive to external drive). After reading about the next step online for about 10 minutes and downloading Crucial's cloning software, I realized that I needed to swap drives BEFORE beginning the cloning process. So I used the USB eject command to prepare to disconnect the drive. When I attempted toโ€ฆ

Great Adapter - Computers & Accessories

I urgently needed to add a second PCIe type NVME drive to my system and could only find a PCIe card as the only other option. I'm out of slots and don't like swapping out PCI cards. This device works great as long as you don't need the pcie-nvme drive to be recognized by the system as installed internally (essentially a device permanently attached to the motherboard). It's very easy to use. Basically it's just a port on a connector. The screw is the only annoying part, but that's because of the

Strange problems. - Computers and Accessories

I never like giving bad reviews, but when a product doesn't do the one job it was designed to do, I think that's appropriate. For context, I'm using a 500GB WD Black SN750. , which should be one of the most optimal drives to use since it is housed in the EKWB's own heatsink. However, the adapter came with a slightly crooked USB connector and the Lotes M.2 connector was frayed. Not a very good first sign. I ran into a problem I've never encountered before: it seems very difficult for the adapter
