I upgraded a nvme SSD Single Slot M.2 from an old Kingston M.2 to a new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB. (July 2020) I saw comments everywhere about Samsung's migration tool not recognizing these USB adapters, so I was ready to do a bit of Macrium Reflect. I had Macrium Reflect Free ready to go, but before using it I updated the ASUG ROG motherboard firmware, installed the latest Samsung tools (wizard and data migration software and Win10 device drivers), made a USB backup and mounted the drive with it 1 TB in this adapter and plugged it into a USB 3.1 port. And then I opened Samsung Data Migration just in case. Well, surprise, it showed the USB stick (see picture) so I continued cloning with Data Migration and everything went fine! My computer has been running with the new 1TB drive for a few weeks now with no problems. So I am very satisfied. Haven't tried using the adapter with an old SSD yet. but I didn't buy it for that. If you need something to upgrade to a Samsung M.2 nvme SSD, that's great!
