I had achilles tendon surgery and had to protect my ankle for two months to avoid my shoes rubbing the incision site. I wear socks every day but need thicker, softer protection. The doctor's office gave me the length of it after the visit, but it had to be replaced quickly. I bought this and am so happy to have my own stash to get through this healing time. Looks a bit flimsy at first glance, but serves exactly the purpose I want it to. It is not designed to compress an area like surgical tubing. This is a thin knitted fabric that the doctor puts on the arm or leg before the plaster cast is applied. Its purpose is to protect the skin from irritation. It's so nice to have!
