First of all, these sheets are beautiful. However, they are not soft, but prickly. They weren't soft out of the box so I figured washing them would help. Not at all. You almost feel worse. I hope that after a few washes they will soften and feel as good as most cotton sheets. I'll update my rating later if they improve. In addition, they are not suitable for 18 inches, as stated on the packaging as 16 inches, although the internet says 18 inches. Luckily they still fit my mattress and didn't shrink after washing. Now after a few months of owning and washing, these sheets are softer and nicer and crisper. I really like them except they are not that deep. They're having a hard time holding on to my mattress pad, so we keep tugging on them. We found a solution by putting a deeper board underneath that we don't like to let slip. I would buy again. But give yourself a lot of patience. I think it took about 10 washes before they could be used even at night and they stopped scratching.
