I have two of these, one for each car, Chevy and VW. I tested them with a multimeter and they do what they say. Unfortunately this is not enough. to keep the battery charged over time due to the parasitic nature of the components in any vehicle. It even connects directly to the battery, not the cigarette lighter socket. For example, just a month on the beach, VW, the panel on the dashboard was attached directly to the FULL SUN battery the whole time. at the end of the month the battery tested only 70%. Chevy at home, same, dash solar panel attached directly to battery, 70% battery when we got home. Everyone started charging 100% with a computer controlled charger plugged into a wall outlet. Batteries in both cars are 1 year old. And I leave them on the charger the whole time.
