A long time ago I inherited a pan of about the same size from the 1960s which I have enjoyed using for years despite the worn glaze and chipped lid. When it finally went away I realized how comfortable this size is and bought this one. Thats much better! It is much easier; much easier to clean; while the powder blue color and relief pattern speak of "home cooking". It is safe to use in the microwave but is designed for the oven. It's not suitable for the stovetop, but I've melted butter in it over a very low gas flame while cooking a mixed dish and found it ok. I'm not one to get excited about cookware, but it's easy to love.
