My wife's hair is naturally somewhere between wavy and curly, the strands are quite thin but she has LOTS of them. Their hair is also often colored and damaged. She bought this set and we carefully went through all the steps. The smell wasn't bad other than the smell coming from the dryer and the fumes made our eyes water. 2 box fans and a ceiling fan were needed for ventilation. After blow drying her hair was a bit messy, sticky and heavy. The ironing step went pretty well and that rough feeling was greatly reduced. The hair is definitely smoother, softer and shinier. It was pretty flat too, but we attributed it to the residual weight of the product and figured it would go away after the first shampoo. After reading some other reviews she waited 5 nights to wash even though the instructions only say 3. Washed and conditioned with sulfate-free products. The drying time has been greatly reduced, which is nice. However, her wavy hair was reduced by about 40% after the first wash. It's still smoother, softer and less fluffy, which is what she really wanted most, so it's still a hit. I'm not sure I would repeat this process again, but she might decide to find a better assistant and repeat the process in the future. Will try to update after a few more washes to see how it goes. Note: This product contains formaldehyde. Research has shown that this is best left to the professionals and do-it-yourself products found that are formaldehyde free, and I foolishly didn't realize that this product didn't meet those requirements until it was already in my hair.
