We were given this to start recording, but to our surprise, the MacBook's built-in microphone worked better than this whole setup. Voices are clearer and cleaner with fewer clicks. Not to mention some hum from this mic over the USB port. We haven't tested XLR so this might help if you have an external audio interface like the 2i2. After returning it, we ordered an Audio Technica ATR2100X-USB and were surprised by the high quality and clarity of the recorded content. As always, your mileage may vary.
