Ok first off let me just say I’ve been shaving my cats for over 10 years now and I’ve been using the same blade and clippers the entire time. Both clippers and blade are Andis brand. The clippers are a pair ofblack plug in clippers a co wormer gave to me. They came from his cousins pet grooming business that she no longer needed when she packed up and moved. I have since purchased another blade, another Andis but I don’t k or what happened but it just didn’t cut as well as the d blade so I’ve been continuing to use that same blade. I just brush the hair off after each use and keep it piled.Well here I am with the chance to try a new set of blades and I admit, I was skeptical because the whole other part of the blade is plastic not metal like my Andis blade but I thought this would help with the coolness during use because you do need to use a cooling spray while using the blade because it can get hot from friction . Well I have two cats and when I shaved my first cat, I was impressed. I mean the clippers went right through the fur like a hot knife through melted butter. The only thing was that it wasn’t quite getting as close on one pass as my Andis blade but it did pretty well on my first cat. Well sort of. They did the job, my cat looks great, but these did not clip quite as short as my Andis of the same blade number. You can’t tell by looking at my cats but you can tell by the feel of them. Anywho, On to cat number two and I got a few swatches in before I knew I had to switch back to the old blade. Despite cleaning the blade off like usual between cats, the hair just really started to stick to the teeth of the blade. It was also taking way more passes through the fur and while my cats are used to this process, they are also used to the feel of the clippers I’ve been using and I could tell my fur baby was annoyed so I switched back to the old blade and everything was fine and I completed her hair cut. So while these started off great, I got one cat shaved in his usual lion cut style albeit, not quite as close a shave, I could not get the job done with cat number two so ultimately I personally will not be using these blades again. I have been using the Andis blade to shave as many as 4 cats one after the other for 6 years or so until now I am down to two and still am using the same blade to shave one cat right after another every 3 to 4 weeks for over 10 years. The fact that I could not shave two cats in a row with a brand spanking new blade is a problem to me. It’s for that reason that I can not recommend these blades despite the fairly great job they did on my first cat.
