Too expensive, too soft, too short

This product is too expensive and should be included in Makita hard cases for free. I bought a Makita hard case and found there was absolutely nothing in it, so I ordered the recommended foam product to fit the Makita planer in the large plastic tool box. This foam insert is too soft and spongy and also very short. I don't think it will hold up over time and I don't think it will hold up a fairly heavy instrument very well. I ended up using a piece of the original cardboard that was cut out to store the tool. I cut it to fit in the hard case, it doesn't move or let the tool fall freely in the case. The design of the Makita tool storage system leaves a lot to be desired. The super-soft, flat, "pull-to-size" foam insert just doesn't fit. The Festool tools I've purchased come with sustainer boxes and have custom blow molded hard plastic inserts, which is a much better way to store tools in modular tool boxes.

Pros
  • Tool boxes
Cons
  • Big and bulky
