Connectivity and Screen Displays

I bought it for an online tutorial on how to connect a VGA monitor to a Chromebook. So far so good on day 3. Plug it in and the screen will appear. I bought a VGA to USB 3.0 adapter and the Chromebook didn't recognize it. I found I had to buy one that fits a USB-C port. I figured I'd get one with an HDMI port in case I wanted to connect it to my TV one day.
