I've used it twice and the stock is finally better. There are some tricks and I hope they will help you. The first time I used this myself: push the wire until it meets a twist or jam, tighten the screw, turn the knob until you hear a click, then loosen the screw and ride away. Pulling back is even more strenuous, but doable by one person. The drain is a little better but hasn't fully recovered so I gave it a try on the second day. Second attempt with two people: one person holds the handle and constantly turns the handle, if no stop is required, the other person pushes/pulls the wire. This works much better because even when there is no clog, the wire can still remove small objects on the pipe. Also, it's a lot less boring. I think all manual devices work the same, so this cheap one is a good choice. I considered an electric one too, but ended up not buying it thinking I might only need it once a year or less. But if it's not too expensive for you and you don't want it to be a hassle, you should get an electric one.
