My son (high school student) used this for a class project. He made a flower "candle" about 8 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick with 1/2 high lips on each of the 10 "petals". He only needed about 1/4 cardboard. It took 2 days to fully dry and he had to turn the "flower" over several times. Then he sprayed it, let it dry overnight, and then sprayed it red. He then poured melted wax over the petals to create 10 connected "candles". Clay worked well for this project and was fairly durable. He introduced a "candle" on a wooden base, but once varnished and painted it was not particularly fragile. The nice thing was that he didn't have to heat the clay to "fix" it. Just let it dry for 2 days.
