More “slick” than “soft”

The size and color are correct, but to describe this as "soft” is a stretch. The synthetic fibers are quite slippery, which some people might consider soft, but to me they just feel slick and in socks it feels almost hazardous. I was hoping it would feel thick and plush, but it feels a bit cheap and thin. My cats won’t even step on it, even weeks after putting it on the floor, which makes me wonder about the construction materials. On the up side, it does not slip around on the hardwood flooring. It’s not bad enough to return, but if I were shopping in person, this would not have made it to the checkout counter.
