A godsend for our 4.5 year old boy with autism! Safe, well done and VERY FUN for the whole family!

UPDATE 04/05/17. This swing survived an entire winter in the Utah mountains without being removed from our tree and is in AMAZING condition! We just moved into a new house with no tree and I hung it on a frame swing I built and my son still loves it! Excellent swing. Nevertheless I recommend! Christmas for our 4.5 year old son came early! Like many kids with autism, this boy loves to rock and roll more than the average kid, and we've experienced quite a few. We have the traditional backyard swing set, but we also have the perfect swing set. A few years ago I decided to build him an unconventional swing set for him to stand on using one of my husband's old skateboards and making some wooden dowel handles for attaching ropes. He loved it, but over time it began to crack due to the weather (I didn't manage to take it off in the harsh winters here), despite covering it with several coats of polyurethane sealant. It was time to replace my homemade swing set with other non-traditional swing sets and I bought this swing just before Christmas but when it arrived the weather was still so good I just couldn't resist putting it up right away to have some fun . enjoy it before it really snows. First and foremost, MY SON LOVES THIS SWING SO MUCH! From the moment he first saw it I knew it was going to be a huge hit and BOY IS IT ALL! Here's a full list of what we love about this swing: MINIMAL ASSEMBLY AND PACKAGING. I appreciate it very much if the delivery comes without dunnage (that's the technical term for packaging materials of all kinds). When I finished assembling this swing, all I had to do was discard the very small and flimsy box it came in, a tiny plastic bag that contained 4 screws and allen wrenches, and a couple of zip ties that held the ropes together. . Also, assembly was easy and the instructions are very easy to read and follow. I appreciate it when things are "protected from idiocy," which they are. All you have to do is hook the outer tube segments together and bolt down with 4 screws and bolts (although you may need to take out some precut foam circles to find the holes in the tubes (see pic. no tools required). apart from the included Allen keys, and I was able to assemble (and hang) it all by myself! It would be easier together, of course, but it is not necessary. I collected so much IKEA furniture in my day (aka divorce in a box) that it was incredibly refreshing to have something so easy to put together that I could do it myself without my husband's involvement! :D- ADJUSTABLE. can be used for a variety of purposes, from ceiling-mounted indoor sensory spaces to outdoor swings and trees. So it's nice that the ropes come with an S hook for easy length adjustment and the hanging rings are compatible with Just about any type/size For our purposes in a tall tree I extended them to full length and had to have one buy an extra 5-6 feet of chain from the hardware store. When fully extended the ropes are 7 feet long, give or take (see photo). The frame itself is non-adjustable and measures 40" x 30" - STRONG/SECURE. I was very impressed with the quality of construction and materials used in this swing, as well as the craftsmanship that went into pre-assembling it. It doesn't look like they're trying to cut corners to save money. Me (a 130 lb 5' 7" woman) and my husband (210 lb 6") gathered them together and hung them from a tree and rode into town on this swing to make sure it was safe for our boy . It's rated for up to 250 pounds and didn't even groan or buckle under my husband's weight. Needless to say, we were VERY confident that it would be safe for our child to play with. The ropes are really strong, not scratchy or uncomfortable (which is very important when you're dealing with an autistic kid who has sensory issues). VERSATILE AND FUN! One of the things that makes this swing so damn fun is the variety of ways you can use it. So far our son prefers to lie on his back while I push him so he can look at the tree while swinging. At 4.5 years he can stretch out on the platform like in a hammock and has enough space (see photo). Plus, he can sit, kneel, or stand on it (this works best if you stand on the frame itself, not the straps), or ride with multiple people! He and I really enjoyed lying next to each other while I push off with my feet, and space is enough! It's amazingly comfortable! Did I mention my husband and I both checked it out and we loved it! Felt like a couple of big kids again. He also loves to chill in it while hanging out with his iPad and I love that he's playing outside on his iPad! Most swing swings are 'turn by turn' and 'turn by turn', so it's AMAZING that this is a 'come on' type swing that is played in so many ways by multiple children at once can! Oh and my son can get on and off the swing by himself which is AMAZING! So far (assuming we've only been using it for a week or so - I'll be updating after a few months of heavy use) The ONLY thing I can even consider as cons is that the knots on the outside of the frame were where that was Tissue that has been attached feels slightly rough/sharp. This means my arms may not find it comfortable to stand there and swing the swing over and over again unless I grab it around corners where there are no knots. It's really no big deal and should be easy to fix if I have time, maybe put silicone glue or a rubber coating on it. If you are thinking of hanging this from a branch and are wondering how I did it. I bought some small tow strap extenders from a home store (I think it's 7 inches long) and wrapped them around a branch because I don't want to damage the tree or branch. I hooked the ends of the towline and extension chain together with a zinc quick link (both also from HD) and used the same quick links to attach the end of the chain to the rings on the ends of the swing ropes for a total of $20 on the extras that Hanging parts are wooden and it works great! Check out my photos to get a better idea. I really can't praise this swing enough. If it holds up well (I'll update later), this will be one of the best purchases we've ever made or cooked for our autistic son! It's definitely worth the price you pay and more! I rarely give 5 stars to anything I buy from Revain, but this swing definitely deserves it and I want other people to find it. And in case you're wondering, no, I did NOT receive this item for free or at a discount to review. I'm just a happy and content parent/customer with a VERY happy little boy! I hope this helps someone else who is searching.
