Review on ✨ Lumies Sparkle Gogo by Michael Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I think it's freaking fun :)

I got this for Christmas for a 4 year old. To be honest she didn't spend much time on it, but I find this thing very funny. First, it really goes with the colored surface it's on. Several reviews I read said it didn't work, but my experience was the opposite. I'm not sure, but I'm wondering if other users understand that the toy needs to be pushed to the surface - the optical sensor on the bottom of the toy is actually a *button*, not just a sensor. You need to press down and feel a slight click for Lumie to "see" the color based on it. Of course, it can't accurately reproduce every color you can find, but it will work with several (I'm doing this from memory, but I think blue, green, red, purple, pink, yellow, and orange all work well). I've used colored heavyweight paper in these primary colors successfully and the Lumie glows the correct color every time. Personally, I also like the game modes and was a bit disappointed that the kid didn't seem to appreciate them. I put colored paper on the table so you can play like the old Simon game: when the colors light up in a certain order, you have to place the toy on those colors in that order. I had fun as well as making "music" by placing the toy on different colors in a different order. I still hope the kid still shows interest because I think it's a fun toy to play with. Like a scarecrow, she leaves a lot to be desired. Underneath the fleece outer shell, it's solid and doesn't have a huge shape - it's basically a fluffy box of eyes. So if you're thinking about getting a stuffed animal, look elsewhere. But I think it's definitely a worthwhile toy with a little brain stimulation built in, so I recommend it.
