April 2015 and then click Add to Cart Now WRONG ITEM added. Instead it adds a "mini" "-bearing that won't do you any good because it's the wrong size. Unfortunately, this is still the ONLY one-piece US crankset sold at Revain that is unpainted, so if you decide to buy it, please check the product description in your cart before you pay!The actual item this ad is for is pretty good. The mini version is pretty good too I think but it's just a different size and fits not if you want a full size kit. Luckily I discovered this when ordering another kit for my brother's bike. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR GOODS BASKET BEFORE YOU PAY. So make sure you choose the 65mm size first; This should add the correct product to your cart. I bought a Schwinn Cruiser bike (and I will never buy a Schwinn again) and every part was designed to the wrong tolerances or snapped right out of the box. But I like the frame. So I rebuilt the bike one by one using NEW non-Schwinn parts. The bottom brackets were originally PAINTED and the crankshaft was TURNED. The bearings rubbed unevenly from twisting and rotated unevenly from the paint (which peeled off and got stuck in the bearings making them even less smooth than before) so I took them apart and threw them away. Bought this set as a replacement. It arrived in good condition and quickly. Haven't installed it yet but the bearings seem to slide in the cups pretty well so it looks good. A NOTICE. Make sure your bike uses the correct type of bearing. There are five or six different types. This set is for old school American bikes with a one piece crank that goes all the way through the bracket and then you step DIRECTLY on the crank. If your pedals are attached to two separate arms, then this is the wrong type of bearing for you. Another NOTE: To see if your bearings need replacing, remove the crank (with pedals) and remove the bearing liners. . However, DO NOT knock the cups out of the hole just yet; leave her inside Wipe off as much grease as possible. With the bike on its side, place one of the bearing races in the cup and place the cone (inner screw/cap) on top. Twist the cone with your fingers. If it doesn't spin freely or wobbles a lot, you probably need to replace the bearing. Don't forget to turn the bike over and check the other side. If you've never done this before, watch a YouTube video for removal and replacement instructions, or take it to a bike shop. So this kit is for a one-piece crank with 24 threads per inch. . All nuts here are threaded for this particular crank. There are other "TPI" numbers (threads per inch) but it doesn't work for them; Nuts are not properly tightened. It is designed for cruisers and BMX bikes with a BIG bearing mount hole. If you already have another bearing, you can still use it as long as the hole is the correct size (2 inches) and you remove ALL the parts from the old bearings. This will likely require using a hammer and a punch or screwdriver to knock out the old cups. The bearings are just exposed steel balls, but they're sealed in an O-ring so they can't easily fall off and get lost. If you are installing a bearing, make sure you use LOTS of lubricant. For real. In this case, too much lube = no problem, but too little lube = the bike will not function properly. Tip: Can't find a 2x4 and don't have a stock press? Build cheap! You will need a 6" or 8" threaded rod. On each end of the rod you will need a nut (you only need to screw on one end so the other end has a tight head) and two washers. The one that goes straight to the nut is a 3 inch steel washer. The one that goes against the bearing should be a 2.25" to 3" rubber washer. You put a nut, a metal washer, and a rubber washer on one end of the rod; insert the rod through the bearing retainer AFTER the bearing cups are loosely installed by hand; and then put a rubber washer, a steel washer, and a nut on the opposite end of the rod. Tighten the nuts to apply equal pressure to both bearings and push them fully into the bracket. You may need additional washers between the nut and the large steel washer to match the shank diameter to the inner diameter (hole size) of the large washer to prevent the nut from fitting into the washer.
