Review on Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway FM231 by Drew Beckett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Completely incompatible

The installation was quite easy, but our system was not stable from day one. maybe 20% of the time. We have line of sight between the receiver in the house/window and the transmitter on the property (less than 200 feet) so we don't think this is a problem. We also tried digging the detector to different depths, from about 6 inches to the recommended foot and even closer to the center of the drive, but those changes didn't help either. The floor above the metal detector also gave us conflicting results: we considered buying more expensive models after this one failed, thinking "you get what you pay for", but judging by their reviews they don't match either. our floor isn't a problem either. The motion sensor type will not work for us as we have a large amount of deer roaming our property along with the livestock we get when they drive up to us. You wouldn't think that this type of magnetic sensor would be so difficult to make to get accurate readings, but apparently that's not the case. it would be nice to have something reliable that would give us a slight warning edge so we aren't constantly surprised by a knock on our door. In theory, this type of product is a BIG idea!

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Some small things
